New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on June 23, 2020) follows:
Xiaomi has done a pretty good job of updating its eligible devices to Android 10. A few days ago, the company promised Redmi Note 7 users an update to Android 10 before the month ends.
True to the company’s word, today we are receiving reports that users have begun getting the much-awaited update to Android 10 on their Redmi Note 7 units.
Earlier reports indicated that the company would first roll out an update to Android 10 build to the Redmi Note 7 before later on rolling out an MIUI 12 build to this device. Again, that is coming to pass as this update only brings Android 10, no MIUI 12 here.
This update bears the software version number V11.0.2.0.QFGCNXM and is currently rolling out to users in China. The changelog for this update is as slim as the features that it packs:
Changelog:
System– Stable MIUI based on Android 10
Kinda underwhelming if you ask me, but clearly, Xiaomi is saving up everything for the upcoming MIUI 12 update to this device. This MIUI 12 is expected to hit the Redmi Note 7 in the second phase of rollout. This shouldn’t take too long as Beta testing for that build of MIUI 12 is already underway.
Either way, that is how Xiaomi works, decoupling feature updates from Android versions and instead, using MIUI updates to bring new features to devices. The update is rolling out to eligible devices as an OTA update and we advise users to sit back and await that update to hit their devices. However, if you want to manually install this Android 10 update on your Redmi Note 7, below is the download link.
