Xiaomi re-released the Redmi Note 8 Pro Android 10 update along with the May 2020 security patchset and the Netflix HD streaming bugfix back in the last week of May.
Global Note 8 Pro users have received the update as version V11.0.4.0 while the European variant of the device grabbed the update with version V11.0.3.0.
This update should have sorted out all the issues and bugs the device users were experiencing but instead, has triggered another issue on the phone.
As per several user reports, GPS is not working on the phone after the recent Android 10 update. As a result, users are facing severe GPS signal issues.
Hi. Since I updated my Redmi Note 8 Pro, GPS isn’t working on any Dual App, and I really need it to work. I can’t find any 10.0.4 EEA rom to try to install and check if Xiaomi fixed it. Its really disappointing.
Same in the Global rom
One of the users has shared a screenshot of the issue along with the troubled ROM on which this issue has surfaced:
Taking a quick look at the comments section of the thread reveals that both global ROM (V11.0.4.0) and EU ROM (V11.0.3.0) users of the Redmi Note 8 Pro are affected by this GPS issue.
Fortunately, one Xiaomi moderator has responded to this issue, stating that developers are aware of the issue and a fix will be released in the next OTA. Here is what the official comment reads:
Hey, Devs are aware of this issue and it will be fixed in next OTA Update.
Thanks
However, due to the lack of an ETA, we are not sure when the bugfix update will be pushed by Xiaomi for fixing this GPS issue on the Note 8 Pro. We will keep you posted once the update is out for the users.
