Realme separated from Oppo a while back now (2018 to be exact), but you can still see the base coat of Oppo on most of the internals you find on Realme phones.
Although Realme now has a distinct identity, the company still uses the OZIP file format to pack its update files. FYI, the OZIP file format is the same which Oppo uses to pack its firmware files.
This increases a few steps if you wish to manually flash any firmware file on your Realme phone as you have to convert this OZIP file into a flashable ZIP file.
Custom ROM developers are also very rapidly coming up with featureful custom ROMs, and since Realme shares its kernel sources and allows bootloader unlocking, it gives the third-party developers to bring about their iteration of the ROMs.
And now in the recently concluded AskMadhav episode 17, the Realme India CEO has revealed some exciting information related to the Realme flash tool.
As per Sheth, Realme will be releasing the Realme Flash Tool for all the Realme devices powered by Android 10 (Realme UI) this month and the first device that will support this tool will be the Realme X50 Pro.
Fast forward to now, a little while ago Realme has already made the Realme Flash Tool available, and as of now, it only supports the Realme X50 Pro. Users can make use of this tool to flash the OFP format file which is currently the firmware file format for Realme X50 Pro.
This tool is available only on Windows for the time being and this Realme Flash Tool does not support the rollback from Android 10 to Android 9. Not only this but, all the user data will be wiped off during firmware flash. So, keep the previously mentioned things in mind before using it.
Going by the FAQ section of the Realme X50 Pro Realme Flash Tool post, the support for more number of Realme devices will be arriving soon in the future.
