Original story (published on June 16, 2020) follows:

Android 10 is soon going to be a thing of the past and a year old in September. Google is already prepping up for the release of the Android 11 update and people have their eyes on their OEMs, for knowing whether their devices will pick up Android 11 updates or not.

And what might come as a surprise and a disappointing piece of information for some, one of the Xiaomi Mi forum moderators has ruled Android 11 update out of the cards for the Redmi Note 8 Pro, stating is is highly unlikely.

This is not what you would expect from OEM right? But, all the facts and information related to the Xiaomi update policy for Redmi devices also suggests the same.

For the unaware, Redmi series phones from Xiaomi are entitled to only one major OS update. The Redmi Note 8 Pro came with Android 9 Pie and has already grabbed its only OS update in the form of Android 10.

But that has not stopped the users for asking about another update from the OEM. And coming forward, the Mi moderator stated:

Dear user,
There is no info about Android 11 update for Redmi Note 8 Pro, however it may not get Android 11 Update.
Thanks

However, the software update policy of Redmi devices may change with the availability of the Redmi K30 and K20 series. As these are premium phones, than typical Redmi devices so, they are likely to receive a second OS update to Android 11.

So, it all boils down to one question, and that is whether this will benefit the chances of Redmi Note 8 Pro getting Android 11 update or not? Well, this is where we also depend on Xiaomi’s official confirmation but, we would advise our Note 8 Pro users to remain skeptical about any possibilities of a second OS update.

Update 1 (September 4, 2020)
