Original story (published on June 11) follows:

Even as more and more devices continue to bag the update to Android 10, the development of its successor, Android 11/R is picking up pace across the board. Oppo is also preparing to test Android 11-based ColorOS 8 on Oppo Find X2.

In the past few weeks, we have seen Google releasing multiple Developer Previews of Android 11 with more and more features that are expected to be baked into the next version of Android being more refined. Other OEMs are also beginning to develop their own skinned version of Android 11.

The Oppo Find X2 remains one of Oppo’s best devices yet, and as such, it is in line for an update to Android 11 and the company’s ColorOS 8 when it drops.

In line with that, the company has today announced plans to soon open up the early adopters’ program for ColorOS 8 for both Oppo Find X2 and Oppo Find X2 Pro.

The early adopter program offers users of the Oppo Find X series of phones, a chance to get a feel of the pre-released version of Color OS 8 that is based on Android 11 on their devices.

Understandably, this being pre-released software means that there are bound to be bugs and issues with that build of Android and as such, it is advisable to sign up for this program if that is your secondary device or if you are a tinkerer and don’t mind running unfinished software.

At the moment, we don’t know much about when these early adopters will be recruited or and even less so, when Oppo is planning to roll out this Android 11 Beta 1 to the Oppo Find X2 devices.

The company is encouraging users who are interested in taking part in this program to stay tuned to the company’s community channels for more information on the same. We shall continue to keep an eye on this and update as, and when we get more details on the recruitment.

NOTE: At present, Oppo has been releasing Android 11 beta updates alongside its ColorOS 7.2 skin instead on ColorOS 8. However, this is subject to change in the future.
