OnePlus is simply unbeatable when it comes to software updates, at least for non-Google devices. The company, alongside the big G, is the only one that guarantees three years of Android OS updates.
That’s something, not even Samsung, the leading smartphone vendor in the world, is able to provide to its massive userbase across the globe. The Korean company only provides two OS updates for its devices, premium or not.
With Android 11 public beta around the corner, it appears that OnePlus is getting ready to welcome the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro into the new world.
Not confirmed yet, but the fact that the company is lining up OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro OxygenOS Closed Beta program soon is pretty much the giveaway. Last year, several OnePlus devices took part in Android Q beta and nothing short of that is expected for R.
Google postponed the release of the public beta version, saying that now isn’t the time to be celebrating considering the ongoing protests in the U.S. It remains unclear when the firmware will be made available, but it should come out soon.
When it arrives, OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro owners can rest assured that they’ll be part of the beta testing program. But as noted, the program will be limited to about 100 units for each model.
We will keep an eye on the developments and let you know when the said OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro OxygenOS Closed Beta program begins.
