Realme provides at least two Android OS updates to some of its devices while others receive a single upgrade. There is no known way to determine which Realme devices are entitled to two OS updates and which ones are not, but price and specs and great determinants.
Devices in the premium Realme X series and those right below them are guaranteed at least two OS updates. However, the rest will only get two OS updates.
The Realme 1 is likely to be a victim of the latter case. Having received Android Pie as an OTA update, device owners have been eager to know if and when the Realme 1 Android 10 update will arrive.
Instead, Realme has often excluded the device from its various Realme UI roadmaps, implying that an official update to Android 10 could be a dream that may never materialize. So, what now for Realme 1 owners?
Enter custom ROMs, LineageOS to be specific. Thanks to XDA developer members Invincible-Venom, Naveen56, and vishalk17, Realme 1 Android 10 update is now a thing, albeit unofficially.
Being an unofficial LineageOS 17.1 ROM, those who choose to install this package on their Realme 1 handsets will have to manually install new updates whenever the devs release them. This is unlike official LineageOS builds that receive OTA updates.
The devs say just about everything works except for hotspot, USB tethering, and that Selinux is permissive. There are possibly more issues, so be sure to share your feedback.
Of course, you’ll need some knowledge of flashing custom ROMs in order to install the unofficial Realme 1 Android 10 update. But if you can follow instructions step-by-step, check out this XDA developers page for an installation guide and all download files.
