[Updated] Vivo Z5, Z5X, Z5i & Vivo S1 Pro Android 10 (Funtouch OS 10) beta update recruitment begins

Android 10 is in its final leg of rolling out to its eligible devices from various OEMs. With this, we don’t see as many active development programs by OEMs as we saw a couple of months ago.

However, there are some outliers that are still running Android 9 Pie but are still set to get updated to Android 10. These include a handful of Vivo devices.

Not too long ago, we reported that the Vivo S1 Pro among other devices from the OEM was slated to get updated to Android 10-based Funtouch OS 10 sometime in June. In line with that announcement, Vivo has announced the commencement of beta update recruitment for these devices.

This beta recruitment is being conducted for a number of Vivo devices including the Vivo Z5, Vivo Z5i, Vivo Z5X, and the Vivo S1 Pro. This Beta recruitment is expected to run from May 21, all the way to May 26.

Thereafter, Vivo hopes to roll out the Android 10-based beta update to the above-mentioned devices on May 28. The company also adds that the Beta recruitment quota has upto 5, 000 slots per device, so Vivo Z5, Z5X, Z5i & Vivo S1 Pro all get 5,000 Beta testers.

At the time of writing, a good number of Vivo devices are undergoing Beta testing for FunTouch OS 10. These include the;

– Vivo X30 Pro

– X30 and S1

– S5 & NEX
– NEX 3 and 3 5G

– X27, and
– X27 Pro

Vivo has also managed to roll out stable builds of Funtouch OS 10 to a few of its devices including the V17 & NEX 3 5G

To recall, Vivo has already made available, a list of its devices that are expected to get an update to Android 11-based Funtouch OS 11 when it is ready for primetime. That list includes many of the devices that have recently been updated to Android 10.

We can only hope that more and more OEMs follow suit and push out updates to their devices because, software is half the story when it comes to a smartphone experience.
