The Android 10 update for the Redmi Note 7 series, that includes the Redmi Note 7 and Note 7 Pro, seems to have been put in the back burner by the OEM.
Recently, the Redmi Note 7 picked up the May 2020 security patch which was based on Android 9 Pie. And going by the latest reports, the same has happened with the Redmi Note 7 Pro, as a new April 2020 security update is live for the device based on Android 9 Pie.
What this means is that the Android 10 update will not be pushed for the device, at least in the foreseeable future. Although, we have documented a report, where one of the moderators claimed that the Android 10 update for the Redmi Note 7 Pro is under development, however, there is no ETA.
And now this Pie-based update makes it almost clear that the company does not have any plans of updating the phone with Android 10 anytime soon.
Talking about the update for the Note 7 Pro, it arrives with version number V11.0.9.0.PFHINXM and is live for the users in India. The update is purely incremental in nature and bumps the security patch level to April 2020.
The update sizes around 430 MB. Here is what the complete changelog reads:
Changelog:
System
– Updated Android Security Patch to April 2020. Increased system security.(Source)
Ideally, the update will be available for the Note 7 Pro users via OTA and OTA are released in batches. Meaning that it will take some time in hitting all the units.
Users can head over to Settings>>System Update>>Check for updates, to see if there is a new update notification available for your phone or not? If yes! Then tap on it to install the latest April security update.
Fortunately, for those who do not wish to wait for the official OTA to arrive on their devices, and want to upgrade their device manually, can grab the update package file from the section below:

As far as the MIUI 12 scenario for the Note 7 Pro is concerned, the MIUI 12 update schedule shared by Xiaomi officially, conveys that the Redmi Note 7 Pro is placed in the second phase, which will commence once phase 1 is done and dusted.
