Latest Redmi Note 9S update fixes Wi-Fi connection issues, installs May patch, & probably more

Gone are the days when Android devices were held back by updates. The ecosystem has greatly matured over the past couple of years and today, even Chinese OEMs who were once notorious for not updating their devices, do so pretty frequently.

Xiaomi for one, has been rather steadfast in terms of rolling out updates, both feature updates and system upgrades to many of its devices. Bug fixes are an essential part of any Android experience and Xiaomi has that locked down as well.

Sticking with their new-found tradition, Xiaomi is today rolling out the May 2020 Android security patch update to the Redmi Note 9s. This update packs a little more than just a little bump in the security patch level as it fixes one issue that has been nagging Redmi Note 9s users for a while.

See, some users have noted that the Redmi Note 9s, when connected to a WiFi network for some time, loses data connection despite the WiFi network being up and running. A user then has to toggle WIFi off and back on to get it to work again. More on this issue here.

Well, this update seems to address this problem, just as the company promised. Below is this new OTA update, V11.0.8.0.QJWMIXM changelog.

Of course, this is an OTA and as such, it will roll out to eligible devices gradually. However, if history is anything to go by, you shouldn’t have to wait more than a few weeks to receive this update.
