Taiwanese phone maker Asus is not much popular when it comes to software updates. Back in January, the OEM started testing Android 10 for the ZenFone Max Pro duo – Max Pro M1 and Max Pro M2. And even months later, the devices haven’t got to experience the stable Android 10, and users are of course not happy with of the delay.

Apart from the Max Pro lineup, the Android 10 beta is also available for the non-Pro Max lineup, ZenFone Max M1 and ZenFone Max M2. The AOSP developer preview versions were released for both th devices last month. And since then, folks have been anticipating the stable Android 10 update.

However, that seems a distant dream as of now. Just yesterday we highlighted that the OEM has pushed the Pie-based May security patch (v16.2018.2005.64) for the ZenFone Max M2 devices while users await Android 10 stable release.

And now, something similar is happening with its kin ZenFone Max M1. Meaning, the wait for Android 10 isn’t ending anytime soon. Coming as build number 15.00.2005.120, the update on Max M2 devices brings in not much but the new security patch and system optimizations.

Here’s what the short and crisp update changelog reads:

1.Updated Android security patch
2.Optimized System stability

The fact that this isn’t the much anticipated ZenFone Max M1 Android 10 update shouldn’t stop you from downloading and installing the firmware. So those of you interested can use the link below and go ahead with manual installation instead of waiting for the OTA.

  • Device: Asus ZenFone Max M1
  • Version: WW-15.00.2005.120
  • Android: 9.0

As for when the Android 10 can be expected, well, it’s anyone’s guess, but we can say it should be out before the end of Q2. Rest assured, we’ll keep you posted about the developments on the matter.

P.S. interested users may head here to see if their Asus unit is eligible for the upcoming Android 11/R upgrade.
