Not too long ago, the OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro picked up the open beta 3 updates. Beta updates, as usual, are meant to bring in some of the experimental features to the device, which if works great, will then be brought to the phone via the stable update.
OnePlus has been known to push new features for its phones, very often, making it one of the sought after brands if you are worried about software and features updates.
In line with this, the open beta 3 update brought in the April 2020 security patch, some system optimizations along with some phone and camera tweaks for the OnePlus 7T.
Now those features are well and good on their own, but some user reports on Reddit have brought to light that, OnePlus has silently added two amazing extra features to the camera.
Obviously, this was not mentioned in the official changelog which is why most of you, the OnePlus 7T owners might not have seen this feature in your device.
The feature that we are talking about is the 960fps super slow-mo mode in the Open Beta 3 update. Yes! OnePlus, along with all the features mentioned for the open beta 3 update, also added a new 960fps super slow-mo and 4k @ 30fps recording from the ultrawide camera on the OnePlus 7T.
In fact, if we go by previous reports, this super slow-mo feature was expected to be a part of the OnePlus 7T with a future update. Not only this, but it was also reported that future updates will trigger the 4K ultra-wide video recording feature for the phone.
And it turns out, that OnePlus did have plans to bring forth both the super slow-mo and 4K ultra-wide feature to the OnePlus 7T. Here is what the post on Reddit reads:
OnePlus silently pushed 960 FPS super slowmo mode in OpenBeta 3 update on 7T.
Edit: Update also includes ability to record 4K 30fps videos from ultra wide camera.

As mentioned from the post, now along with the super slow-mo you can also record 4K @ 30fps from the ultra-wide camera on your OnePlus 7T smartphone, once you have updated your phone with the latest open beta 3 update.
One thing users should note that the super slow-mo is not true 960fps super slow-mo, but actually a 480 with interpolation. Interpolation is a technique where the software copies and duplicates the frames in the gaps to generate high-frame slow-mos. However, this ultimately results in choppy and poor quality slow-motion videos.
Let us know your thoughts on these two new additions on the OnePlus 7T camera with the latest open beta 3 update.
