Valve released a new update for CS:GO on May 4 including inferno 1v1 wingman map, chlorine changes, and revived killed alongside improvements and bug fixes but after the update, a number of players are not able to join the official matchmaking.

It looks like the update has brought some change to how the server read players’ game files and if it found any discrepancy, it kicks the player from the matchmaking. In the update notes Valve stated that “sv_pure servers will now kick clients that have loaded asset files into game memory from files not present on [the] game server filesystem”.

This is leading the players kicked out of the matchmaking queue. If a player is queuing up for a competitive match and gets kicked off the matchmaking then he/ she will get 30 min cooldown which can become worse if it happens in a loop.

But, there is a quick workaround to avoid this situation and join the match successfully. According to a Twitter user gabefollower, players will need to delete some game files. Navigate to Program Files (x86) > Steam > steamapps > common > Counter-Strike Global Offensive > csgo. Remove the shaders, materials, models, sound, scripts, and particles folders which can severely affect matchmaking. After this, check the integrity of the game files on Steam by heading to Steam Library> CS:GO > Properties > Local Files.

A small update of May 5 highlights the necessary files needed to be deleted if you are not sure.

If you are still not able to join the match then directly contact the valve. Developer ‘2Eggs’ has confirmed that they are accepting queries for sv_server issues via mail. “If you’re facing this issue then please go ahead and send an email to [email protected] with the subject line “sv_pure kick,” said ‘2Eggs’ on Twitter.

Make sure to include your profile link and the error you were getting so the developers can help you. Valve has yet to release an official patch to fix the issue till then this is only workaround you can follow to play CS:GO.
