Original story (published on May 2) follows:

COVID-19 has put a pause on the operation of many big industries. One of the worse hit industries in the smartphone industry, which ultimately has delayed new phone launches and timely rollout of the security or firmware updates.

While Chinese OEM also seemed pretty affected by the COVID-19 situation, but after a short delay, the company was back on track and recently released the Android 10 (ColorOS 7) beta update in India for the Oppo F9 and F9 Pro devices.

Point to note is that it was rolled out for the first batch of the beta testers which was limited to 2,000. This left those who were not able to get themselves register, disappointed.

However, the company also mentioned while announcing about the first batch of ColorOS 7 (Android 10) beta registrations for Oppo F9 and F9 Pro that the second wave of recruitments will commence from mid-May.

But, if we go by the latest developments, as per several user reports, some of the users of Oppo F9 and F9 Pro are being served with the most latest version of the ColorOS, i.e. the ColorOS 7.1.

Though, it is not clear as of what has caused Oppo to push ColorOS 7.1 update to some of Oppo F9 and F9 Pro users, while others are getting the ColorOS 7 update. What we believe is that it could be a regional thing.

There are several other user reports, that confirm that some of the Oppo F9 and F9 Pro devices are picking up the ColorOS 7.1 update instead of the ColorOS 7 update, which you can check here. Matter of fact, the official Telegram Chat Groups also have reported similar reports.

Now, we are not sure what has caused Oppo to push ColorOS 7 to some and ColorOS 7.1 to others. All we can say is that the Oppo F9 and F9 Pro will get the ColorOS 7.1 update.

And as far as the reason behind the difference in the rollout of ColorOS 7 is concerned, we will keep our eyes on the lookout and will keep you posted, as and when anything related to it comes up.
