It goes without saying that OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T users have been waiting to hear the good news about the actual release since the OEM revealed (back in October last year) the timeline for the two devices to get upgraded to Android 10 based OxygenOS 10.

Then last month, it surfaced the update is slated to be pushed to the OnePlus 5 duo sometime during May-end or mid-June. Following that came the first glimpse of Android 10 on the devices in the form of the leaked HydrogenOS 10 beta. Soon after that came the H2OS 10 developer preview 3 update.

During all this, the OxygenOS users were sitting tight waiting for the Android 10 beta program to kick start. Well, well, the wait is finally over now, as the Chinese OEM has officially released the Android 10-based OxygenOS 10 beta update for OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T.

Now that the beta program has kickstarted, the stable releases shouldn’t be far. The information regarding the Android 10 beta update release for OnePlus 5/5T came in the form of an official announcement post at the OnePlus Community. Here’s what the update changelog reads:

System
Brand new UI design brings light and fluid experience
Updated to Android 10
Full Screen Gesture (OP5T Only)
Newly added Hidden Bar to allow left-right switches of recent apps

For those who have been waiting and are interested in the beta program, you can use the following instructions (along with the download links) to install the update to get to experience what Android 10 feels like on your OnePlus 5/5T unit.

    • To begin with, download the update packages:
      OnePlus 5: Link
      OnePlus 5T: Link
    • Head to the File Manager> Shift the downloaded .zip package from the Downloads folder to the root directory.
    • Go to Settings> System> System updates> press the cogwheel on the top right corner> select the Local upgrade option> select the rollback file.
    • Then turn off the phone> press power and volume up key simultaneously until the device enters the Fastboot Mode.
    • Navigate to Recovery option using volume and power button> Select English language> Install from Internal storage> choose the downloaded zip file> Select ‘Yes.’
    • Wait until the installation is complete> Following that Reboot the device and you ‘re done.
  • NOTE: Those on OBT builds for 5/5T can update to Android 10 beta only through an update from recovery (please note the data will be wiped).
