Alongside the Mi 10 Youth Edition, Xiaomi has also introduced its much talked, next iteration of the custom UI, MIUI 12 on April 27. The OEM has already pushed the closed beta (China ROM) for the early adopters in China.
Xiaomi has also announced the list of devices that are eligible to receive the closed beta update of MIUI 12, which you can check here. This closed beta will be stopped for Mi 6, Redmi Note 5, Mi 6X, Mi Note 3, Mi Mix2, on June 20.
While the early adopters are already getting the taste of MIUI 12 on the eligible devices, going by an official post, the MIUI 12 open beta will kickstart from May 8, 2020.
Note that a total of 29 devices are eligible to grab the open beta MIUI 12 update, which will be available in China on the said date.

And eventually, the MIUI 12 China stable update will be pushed for the devices, in batches, starting from June-end.
The first batch includes the entire Mi 10 series, Redmi K30 series, Redmi K20 series, and Mi 9 series phones. However, no specific dates have been mentioned on when the second and third phases of the MIUI 12 Stable China update will be rolled out.
A lot has been talked teased and shared about this MIUI 12 custom UI, but now the fact that it is out, users are pretty happy with the new features and enhancements it has to offer.

Revamped design and new animations
Xiaomi has cleaned up MIUI 12, a bit more as compared to the MIUI 11. You will get to see some new visual elements like new animations, rounded corners, advanced color mixing, etc.
Moreover, the MIUI 12, also brings the Sensory Visual Design, which basically is meant to show you all the system information like storage, battery, the screen on time, etc. in the form of graphs and diagrams, making it easier for the users to understand.
Super Wallpapers and AOD
Probably the most talked about and the most appreciated addition to the MIUI 12 is the Super Wallpapers. With this, users will be able to set 3D models of Earth and Mars are the wallpaper for your home screen and lock screen.
To enhance the visual experience, these Super Wallpapers are susceptible to dark mode, meaning that the wallpapers chosen by you will enter into dark mode. These wallpapers are properly rendered with real-time NASA statistics to provide life-like experience to create brilliant wallpapers for your device.
Users across various social media platforms like Twitter, are really appreciating the Super wallpapers, because of the stunning visuals and look it gives to the device.
Not only this, but Xiaomi has also added a bunch of new Earth, Mars, and Moon inspired live wallpapers along with the AOD screens visual design elements MIUI 12 brings in.
Dynamic Weather
The weather application has now been fine-tuned and tweaked to a level that now with the change in weather the visual elements of the weather app will show you the exact replication of the actual weather.
The app adapts to the weather like cloud, rain, or snow and shows you the visuals on the weather app, making it a visually immersive experience. Some new animations for screen rotation, opening, and closing apps, etc. have also been added.
New Gestures
Not new for many, but now with the MIUI 12, you can access the notification panel by swiping down, without the need of leaving the tasks that you were currently doing.
Swiping down the notification will also expand it to a new pop-up style interface which you can freely move and make use of or use it for a split-screen effect.
Enhanced Privacy
MIUI 12 brings some new and enhanced level of security for the Xiaomi phones to safeguard the data. It offers Flare, Barbed Wire, and Mask System, which are added to enhance the protection and privacy of the data of the users.
For instance, the Flare System records all the sensitive app activities and behavior of the application and presents it to the user. Barbed Wire system gives you the control, whether to erase the sensitive information or not. You can also restrict the use of the camera, app permissions, etc. for all the apps.
Mask System, masks all your information with a virtual identity that can help you bluff the apps that are trying to get your personal information without your permission. The data includes, including contact lists, calendars, and call records.
Other Features
The MIUI 12 also adds certain new enhancements like Dark Mode 2.0 that brings wallpaper dimming which means that it will gradually dim the brightness of the wallpaper based on the time of the day and it also enhances better readability of texts at night.
The AI Calling is designed for the disabled with hearing and visual disabilities. The calls are transcribed, there are certain AI-based responses that the user can make use of to reply, customize the language for calls, etc. As per Xiaomi, its accuracy rate has been measured to up to 98%.
So, all in all, Xiaomi has brought a well-balanced and new set of features for the Xiaomi phones with the MIUI 12, making it the most powerful and cleanest UI from the Chinese OEM.
