Xiaomi India earlier this month unveiled a new version of its in-house smart TV software skin dubbed PatchWall 3.0. Based on the latest Android 9 Pie, the update has plenty to offer in terms of new features, optimizations and bug fixes.
According to the Chinese vendor, the update to PatchWall 3.0 includes a “deeper integration” with Disney+ Hotstar, new content partners, improved animations, and horizontal scrolling, among other stuff.
While announcing the updated Mi TV software, Xiaomi also confirmed the models that will receive PatchWall 3.0, namely Mi TV 4A, Mi TV 4C Pro, Mi TV 4A Pro, Mi TV 4 Pro, Mi TV 4X, and Mi TV 4X Pro.
But to date, some owners of these TVs haven’t been able to make the switch to the new software. As it stands, it’s hardly Xiaomi’s fault that you haven’t been able to install the Mi TV Patchwall 3.0 update.
For those who the Mi TV PatchWall 3.0 update is still elusive, we have a way out for you, at least going by what the support guys in the Mi TV forums pointed out.
How to upgrade to Mi TV PatchWall 3.0 update
Apparently, upgrading your Mi TV to the latest PatchWall 3.0 update is a walk in the park. Matter of fact, you don’t have to do anything in order to get the new software, but this is only true for those already on Android Pie.
That said, here is what you need to do/know in order to switch to PatchWall 3.0:
1. For starters, Xiaomi says PatchWall gets updated automatically in the background.
2. If you haven’t already updated to Android TV 9, please check for updates from the TV settings menu and update to Android TV 9 (Pie). After that PatchWall will get updated automatically to the latest version in the background while you are connected to the internet.
3. If you haven’t yet received PatchWall 3.0, please try using a different internet connection. If that doesn’t work, please factory reset the TV once and check for the update again.
That’s it! So yeah, you don’t have to lift a finger to install the Mi TV PatchWall 3.0 update if you are on the latest Android Pie update, otherwise, steps 2 and/or 3 above should fix the problem for you.
