Samsung has been doing a rather commendable job lately when it comes to rolling out updates to its devices. The Korean OEM has, on many occasions, topped the likes of Google at rolling out security updates to its devices.
The company has also updated most of its eligible devices to the latest build of Android, Android 10. The few remaining devices should get updated within this quarter, at least according to the company’s Android 10 roadmap.
In the Android world, updates are not as streamlined as they are on iOS. This means that while a device might get updated to Android 10, not all devices will get the update immediately. Factors such as region and carrier, mean that some devices will get updated months after the same device in some carriers get the update.
The same case is playing out with Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S6. The international version of the Tab S6 received Android 10 a while back. In fact, the device has recently been updated to One UI 2.1. Verizon is only now coming round to update the Tab S6 to Android 10-based One UI 2.
This being an OS upgrade, it packs quite a number of new features, the main one being Samsung’s One UI 2. This new skin brings a number of enhancements as outlined in the following changelog shared on Verizon’s website.
Android OS 10 Update
-Android 10 OS offers some of the newest ways to control your privacy, customize your phone, and get things done. It’s Android, just the way you want it. It brings Android 10 features like Live Transcribe, Smart Reply, improved Gestures and Camera user experience, and Focus Mode. Night Mode has been renamed to Dark Mode.
Sound Amplifier
-With Sound Amplifier, your phone can boost sound, filter background noise, and fine-tune to how you hear best. Whether talking to your best friend, watching TV, or listening to a lecture — just plug in your headphones and hear everything more clearly.
Smart Reply
-In Android 10, you get more than just suggested responses to your messages. You also get the recommended actions. So, if a friend asks you out to dinner, your phone will suggest you text thumb’s up. Then, it’ll also pull up directions right in Google Maps. It even works in messaging apps like Signal.
Live Transcribe
-Real-time transcriptions for the world around you. Now with sound events that show you when someone is clapping, a dog is barking, someone is whistling, and more.
Gesture Navigation
-Gestures are now quicker and more intuitive than ever. Go backward and forwards, pull up the home screen, and swipe up to see your open apps. All super smooth.
Samsung Daily
-Samsung Daily has replaced Bixby Home. With Samsung Daily, you’ll get what you need at a glance, without having to open a single app. Swipe your home screen to the right to quickly find what you’re looking for. With a single tap, you’ll see today’s news, weather, appointments, and more.
Focus Mode
-For getting in the zone and minimizing distractions. Turn on Focus mode with a single tap to pause apps that you’ve selected.
