Original story (published on March 31) follows:

Vivo, towards the end of last week, started looking for willing owners of the Vivo S5 and devices in the Vivo NEX series to submit their interest to try Funtouch OS 10 update based on Android 10 ahead of the official rollout.

This development came after the company revealed the reason why there was a delay in rolling out the Funtouch OS 10 update to its devices, but it seems the sad and gloomy days of the novel COVID-19 are almost over.

In an official roadmap published earlier this month, Vivo revealed that the beta version of Android 10 would be pushed to the S5 and NEX series in April 2020 and indeed, the OS is now available for early adopters just in time.

If you own the Vivo NEX A and did register to try the Funtouch OS 10 beta update, the OTA package is arriving as I write this with software version 8.9.15 and weighs in at 3.71GB.

The Vivo NEX Dual Display variant is receiving the same update as version 6.8.12 and weighs in at 3.45GB.

The Vivo NEX S is also receiving this very update and while we have confirmed reports from actual device owners who have received this OTA package, the same cannot be said of the Funtouch OS 10 beta update for the Vivo NEX Screen Fingerprint model.

Still, we’d like to believe the variant is also receiving the beta update to Android 10. The Vivo S5 and NEX series now join the Vivo NEX 3 and NEX 3 5G in testing the Funtouch OS 10 beta ahead of the stable rollout, probably before the end of this coming quarter.

Update 1 (April 21)

It appears a wider rollout of Android 10 has begun, as Vivo NEX users who didn’t enroll for the beta are also getting the update now.
