[Updated] Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Android 10 update expected by April-end or May first half

Chinese smartphone manufacturing giant, Xiaomi, has been working on the Android 10 update for its 2019 smartphone, Redmi Note 7. The Redmi Note 8 series, specifically, the Redmi Note 8 Pro, already has the Android 10 update, and owners of its kin series, the Redmi Note 7 and 7 Pro are waiting.

The Chinese variant of the Redmi Note 7 Pro already has this update but it is still in the beta phase. Furthermore, the Android 10 update for the Redmi Note 7 Pro Global Version is under development, but there is no ETA.

A few weeks back we reported that the Redmi Note 7 Android 10 update is under evaluation, however, like the Note 7 Pro Global variant, there is also no ETA.

Although the Redmi Note 7 has been receiving other updates like the addition of VoWiFi (WiFi calling) which came with the February security patch, users still want to know when to expect the Android 10 update for Redmi Note 7.

Now, there is a glimpse of hope as a community moderator gave a hint as to when we should expect Android 10 on the Redmi Note 7. In the Q&A section of the Mi community forum, a user asked about it and here’s what they got to hear from a moderator:

“…there is no official announcement about releasing time of Android 10 for RN7. It is expected in April last or May first half”

Considering that we are already mid-way through April, this means that the update will arrive in about one month’s time.

We understand the plight and agitation of Redmi Note 7 users. The Android 10 update for this smartphone has been under testing since early January. Thus, it is quite disturbing that it is taking so much time to officially arrive.

Nevertheless, we should not easily forget that the new coronavirus pandemic has a huge effect on the work pace of many companies, including Xiaomi. Thus, this could be one of the reasons why the Android 10 update for this smartphone is delaying.

Now that we have a clue as to when this update will arrive, we have to keep our fingers crossed and watch as events unfold. As usual, we will keep a tab on the developments with this update and keep you informed if there is any information.
