[Updated] Nokia 5.1 Plus Android 10 update alledged to rollout in May

When we talk about software updates for smartphones, the Finnish manufacturer, Nokia is one of the fastest in the industry. Back in August 2019, Nokia already released its roadmap for Android 10.

However, as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, the company had to revise the roadmap back in March. In the original schedule, Nokia 5.1 Plus was to get this update in Q1 2020. However, in the revised version, it was shifted to Q2 2020.

We are just at the beginning of Q2 2020 and there is already a plethora of speculations regarding the Android 10 update for this smartphone. A few days ago, the Android 10 internal beta update leaks for Nokia 5.1 Plus and Nokia 8 Sirocco became available.

Subsequently, a video that gave the first look at the Android 10 UI on Nokia 5.1 Plus and Nokia 8 Sirocco appeared online. A couple of days it came to light that the Nokia 5.1 Plus Android 10 update is almost here.

Now, an alleged statement from Nokia support claims that the Nokia 5.1 Plus update could arrive anytime from now but most likely in early May. The statement reads:

Nokia 5.1 Plus will be updated soon…I think it will be in early May

Actually, HMD Global has done a good job with software updates for its Nokia phones. The likes of Nokia 4.2, Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 7.2, Nokia 7.1, Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 2.2, Nokia 6.1, Nokia 6.1 Plus, Nokia 9 PureView, and Nokia 8.1 are already updated.

However, users of Nokia 5.1 Plus are still gawking. This smartphone, also known as Nokia X5 in China as released in 2020 with Android Oreo out-of-the-box. This means that the Android 10 will probably be the last major Android firmware update that it will be receiving.

Under normal circumstances, Nokia offers two years of major update support, thus the Nokia 5.1 will not be getting any more updates. Like we said earlier, Nokia is one of the fastest with software updates and according to its schedule, this update will arrive between April and June.
