WiFi calling, more popularly called VoWiFi (Voice over Wi-Fi), makes use of the Internet as the transmission medium for telephone calls. The functionality has been quite in demand among smartphone users, further pushing the OEMs to enable it on the compatible devices.
Take for example Realme, they recently released the functionality for all its devices. Other OEMs like Honor/Huawei and Oppo are also making efforts to bring WiFi calling to the eligible devices at the soonest. South Korean smartphone maker LG recently served the same to the V40 ThinQ units.
And as of today, LG G7 ThinQ is also joining the party. To recall quickly, LG G7 ThinQ is yet to be upgraded to Android 10, however, the beta has been in circulation for months now. Android 10 beta users were in fact lately served the latest security patch. i.e. of April.
Well, the stable release shouldn’t be far as LG G7 Android 10 kernel source code is also live now, and the update is slated for this quarter itself. While device users gawk Android 10, those in India are now getting the VoWiFi (WiFi calling) feature along with the March security patch.
The update weighs in around 670 MB in size and arrives with the version number V20n. Here’s what the short and crisp changelog reads:
