This story is being continuously updated…. New updates are being added at the bottom…..

Original story (from April 10) follows:

Samsung has been on a roll lately. The company has, in the past few weeks, rolled out Android 10 to quite a number of its devices including the bottom-of-the-barrel Galaxy A20e and the Galaxy A10.

The same Android 10-based One UI 2.0 was also rolled out to one of the beefier Samsung Galaxy A series smartphones from 2019, the Samsung Galaxy A70s. You can read more about that update here. The same update to the Galaxy A70 was pulled and later re-released.

Many devices got this update in the past few days and sadly, the response from users has not all been positive. According to Sammobile, some Galaxy A70 users are reporting that the Android 10 update to their Galaxy A70 devices is bricking their devices.

This, according to reports, is as a result of Samsung using two different types of PCBs for modulating charging on various batches of the Galaxy A70. The Android 10 update seems to be correctly configured for the newer variant but seemingly does not address the older PCB.

This issue has led to Galaxy A70 devices with the older PCB getting bricked and requiring a trip to Samsung Care Centre for a PCB swap to fix this problem.

Other users who have updated their Samsung Galaxy A70 to Android 10-based One UI 2.0 have also noticed a considerable slow-down of their device on the new firmware. Granted, Android 10 is heavier than the Android 9 Pie that the device has been running since launch, and the device could simply need a factory reset under the new firmware. However, it is worth noting that so you know what you are getting yourself into when updating your A70.

Many people are concerned that Samsung has not seen it fit to pull down the update despite many users reporting their devices getting broken by this update.

At the moment, we would advise all Galaxy A70 owners who have not updated to Android 10 to hold of from doing so. It remains unclear just how many users have been affected by this issue but seeing as this update has just now started hitting devices, the number can’t be that high.

Most of the reported cases are in the Netherlands at the moment.
