Netflix’s BEASTARS remains one of the most talked-about animes this year, with fans and critics going on an overdrive to break down the show to its very frames. So it is no surprise that the anime has been picked up for a second season.
Earlier we had shared how the show-makers plan to put out the next season of BEASTARS by 2021. If the wait seems too long, and you just can’t have enough of BEASTARS, here’s some more news to keep you engaged.
Well-known Japanese voice actor (seiyuu) Subaru Kimura has confirmed joining the cast from the new season. He will play as the Indian lion ‘Free’, one of the two new characters being added in season 2. The other character introduced is a lion by the name ‘Ibuki.’
Visuals for his character the Indian lion ‘Free’ was earlier released along with the new season announcement.
According to the official BEASTARS website, Free the Indian lion belongs to the Shishi group and is noticeable with a scratch on his face. Given that the second season will focus a lot on the Shishi group, Kimura’s character has a pivotal role to play in moving the plot forward.
He has a lot of blood and is a ferocious character who gets on board at the beginning of battles such as conflicts but also has a mischievous side. In fact, he seems to have a tattoo on his body that reads “Cat Evil Death.”
The show’s narrative and animation makes it look like a kid’s show but blows a heavy punch in your gut with the intense topics it handles. BEASTARS season 2 will be out by 2021. While BEASTARS season 1 is currently available on Netflix, season two will start streaming in Japan on Fuji TV’s +Ultra.
BEASTARS season one was launched on Netflix Japan on October 8, 2019. Soon it started airing from October 9, 2019, on Fuji TV’s +Ultra programming block. From March 13, 2020, international fans could also stream the show exclusively on Netflix.
