Riot Games is all set to release a new game, Valorant, pretty soon. It is an upcoming free-to-play multiplayer first-person shooter. Initially, the game is expected to only release on Windows platform. Riot Games has already teased a short gameplay & has also revealed details regarding its few characters.
Each match starts as five-versus-five with 25 rounds so that 13 rounds wins the match. The signature, the main game mode is the bomb defusal, just like in CS: GO one team plants a bomb and the other team defends the spot.
The subtlety in the gameplay comes from the fast-paced game mode and the blend of abilities and gunfights. The key distinctions that distinguish it from Overwatch or its closest competitor Counter-Strike are the existence of long cooldown abilities but the game is not overly reliant on them.
All the characters have the same health pool and identical hitboxes thus just like in CS: GO the characters can die from a single shot to the head. The flash fights and the fast gameplay may cause a single round to end in a matter of 1-2 minutes.
Valorant creates a perfect balance between the arcadey overpowered ability-based gameplay and skilled gunplay combat. The initial gauge seems to stress on the gunplay combat more, so even though the abilities of a character are important, it will not win you a game though they can be used to gain a tactical advantage.
Guns will be an important part of your arsenal, so if you can’t shoot well, hard luck! To reach the game’s highest level, you’ll have to master both the abilities and gunplay. The arsenal comes with multiple guns similar to any modern military game.
Assault rifles, snipers, shotguns, submachine guns and much more. All the characters start off with one free ability at the start of the game and can purchase two others with the money earned between rounds. All the secondary abilities come with limited charges as well.
Microtransactions
Though the details aren’t completely revealed by Riot, we know that regular gameplay unlocks the different characters in the roster. Microtransactions will be available, but it won’t provide any competitive edge to the players. We can safely say that there will be in-game cache sets as well as skins for custom looks, player cards, sprays, and cosmetic items. It will not feature any loot boxes.
