Emergency measures to contain the COVID-19 virus from further spreading have forced popular anime and pop-culture conventions like Anime Japan 2020, Sakura-Con, Anime Detour, etc to get canned.

The latest anime convention to bite the coronavirus dust is Anime Boston 2020 in Massachusetts, United States. Originally scheduled between April 10 -12, the convention was canceled after the US government banned gatherings, leaving fans in utter dismay.

The cancellation is a real setback to the participating artists, for many of whom this was a major source of income. To say that they are in a pinch is an understatement.

“I feel like this is the worst timing ever due to E/CCC stress but I got a huge medical bill today that I need to pay in order to get well again,” shares artist Naomi Romero, who had plans to debut her new merchandise there.

Naomi isn’t the only creator from Anime Boston Artist Alley feeling the hit.

The cosplayers and performers have also suffered considerable loss. Some have worked an entire year for this.

To help these artists recover some of the loss, and cheer up the convention goers who were saving up to buy the goodies at the con, few fans are putting together a Virtual Anime Boston 2020 Artist Alley Table, by listing the attending artists and their digital shops.

Virtual AA- Anime Boston

You can head here to find the list of Anime Boston – Alley Artists (AA) that Nino speaks of above. It is being updated regularly to feature as many artists from the con as possible.

Artists are also encouraging fans to take the ‘virtual con’ route by making exclusive Anime Boston merchandise and art available on their online shops. You can lend your support by shopping directly from them.

Alternatively, if you were an Anime Boston regular who wants to catch up on your annual con shopping from the luxury of your home, or simply an enthusiast who wants to support, you can share your interest online, as these fans have done.

Convention Prime has also opened submissions to artists/creators/authors who were impacted by Planet Comicon, WonderCon, Fan Expo Dallas, Anime Boston, etc.

Given the state of emergency, there may be no better way to support your favorite artist than this.
