Original story (published on Feb 13) follows:
Months after their official announcement, Manga Rock seems to be officially dead now. The scanlation site first announced shutting down in September 2019. This was immediately followed by removing the Manga Rock app on the Play Store and App Store.
However, some who already had the app seemed ta have been able to use the platform further. But just recently, Manga Rock posted an official announcement on their website the removal of all reading features of the platform.
Shut down announcement
The official announcement reads:
Hi all
As we announced previously, we have removed all reading features from the website.
Now when you visit each title’s info page, you can no longer read scanlations. Instead, we have added a feature that links each title in Manga Rock to an official content provider’s site (like Comixology, or viz.com etc.) where you can support the original authors and their work.

What’s next for Manga Rock?
Manga Rock may be officially dead. But as the announcement states, Manga Rock proponents are still working on MR Comics. This new platform is what they hope would allow them to continue in the manga business while supporting creators in the process.
This move may have inconvenienced a lot who patronize the Manga Rock platform, but it has inspired other scanlation sites to follow.
