There are several carrier networks active for the users in the US, one of them is Verizon which provides wireless communication services.
In fact, according to the latest report by RootMetrics, Verizon is the best wireless carrier network in the US attaining an aggregate median download speed of 32.7 Mbps which is way faster than Sprint and T-Mobile while it is comparable to AT&T.
In the process of providing a better user experience, Verizon has now added a new option to block the unauthorized transfer of mobile phone numbers.
According to a user report, ‘Number transfer freeze‘ is the option which once activated, protects your mobile phone number transfer. Moreover, as stated in the image shared by the user:
If a scammer gets your personal information, they can transfer your mobile number to another carrier. Then, they can get your calls and texts to take control of other accounts, like banking and social media.
Turn on port freeze to prevent an unathorized transfer of your mobile number.
Besides, users on Reddit seemed quite happy with the introduction of this new feature as it provides more enhanced security and protection from unauthorized phone number transfers.
However, users have also pointed out that this feature is not showing up in the Mobile application and is visible only on the website.
Another user noted that all the numbers associated with a Verizon account do not show up on this option. It seems that this new number transfer freeze option is still in the works and soon this issue will be fixed and brought to the mobile app as well.
We will keep you in the loop until we have more information in this regard. Let us know in the comments below what are your thoughts about this feature on Verizon.
