Toei Animation posted on their official Twitter account a reminder about the upcoming Dragonball Symphonic Adventure US tour to premiere in Chicago, Illinois on March 27, 2020.

The event is hosted by Toei Animation and Sony Pictures Television’s Funimation, and produced by Overlook Events, as part of the year-long 30th-anniversary celebration of the Dragonball series.

The official Dragonball full-length concert will be showcasing a combination of scenes from the animated series and music by the legendary Japanese composer Shunsuke Kikuchi.

The 60-member orchestra will be performing classic Dragonball songs with soloists and singers including Hiroki Takahashi, the singer of the Dragonball series and the original interpreter of cult songs Makafushigi Adventure, Mezase Tenkaichi and Dragon Ball Densetsu.

The premiere will be held at Rosemont Theatre, Chicago, Illinois, featuring the World Festival Symphony Orchestra conducted by Eric Roth.

The beginning of the narrative symphonic experience

Dragonball Symphonic adventure is an initiative by Overlook Events with the concept of narrative symphonic experience. The concept is explained on its official website as follows:

FULLY-IMMERSIVE LIVE-TO-PICTURE SYMPHONIC CONCERTS WITH THE MUSIC FROM POP-CULTURE & GEEK LICENSES ALL COMPLETELY SYNCHRONIZED TO CUTTING EDGE VIDEO SCREEN, LIGHTING AND SPECIAL SOUND EFFECTS IN LONG-LENGTH MUSICAL SUITES

The production company based in France, in collaboration with Toei Animation, hosted the very first Dragonball Symphonic Adventure orchestral concert on May 6, 2017, at Le Grand Rex Theatre, Paris, France.

Overlook Events shared on their official website the idea of the upcoming concert:

Dragon Ball Symphonic Adventure is a full-immersive concert with the music from DRAGON BALL and DRAGON BALL Z series for this first time in the history of japanese animation, all completely synchronized to cutting edge video screen, lighting and special sound effects from the series. An original production created and produced by Overlook Events, under its unprecedented concept Narrative Symphonic Experience.

Akira Toriyama’s work became a worldwide phenomenon with over 300 million volumes of the comic book sold, currently making it the second most sold manga in the word. Dragon Ball is now part of the world as a cultural whirlwind: animated series, OAV and films, videogames and other merchandising products were made from it. Dragon Ball Symphonic Adventure revisits the entire sagas of DRAGON BALL and DRAGON BALL Z with a full orchestra and rhythm section, HD images on a large screen and special effects.

More dates and locations of the said US tour will be announced. This will be followed by a Saint Seiya Symphonic Adventure orchestral concert, to premiere on April 18, 2020, at the Le Grand Rex Theatre, Paris, France.

I am a university teacher who can't get enough of anime and manga. My class' group names are based on my favorite characters, especially from One Piece. I read manga or watch anime every chance I have. I started reading manga just a few years back and I was hooked the first day. I usually follow fan pages and am consistently given a Top Fan Badge. I also love baking and cake decorating and trying to make anime-themed cake designs.
