The Honor Band 5, like its predecessor, the Honor Band 4, is a rather solid and inexpensive fitness tracker from Huawei. The wearable has a display unit and a silicone wristband. The strap is well made, which makes it feel comfortable on your wrist.
Lately, Huawei has been doing really well when it comes to pushing out software updates and security patches to its devices. This is not just limited to its smartphones and tablets. Its wearable devices have also been seeing a good number of updates with bug fixes and new features.
We recently saw Honor Band 4 and Huawei Watch GT getting new updates. And now, Honor Band 5 is also receiving some improvements from the OEM.
The update that bears software version number 1.1.0.120 brings with it a bunch of improvements centered around enhancing music playback control.
Changelog
This update allows you to get better control of music playback on your phone.Optimization
1. Optimizes the remote music playback controls.
2. Fixes some known issues
Honor Band 5 received media playback controls back in September. This function arrived for the Band 5 along with the SpO2 monitoring capability. This made the Band 5 a more indispensable accessory for those looking for an all-in-one fitness tracker.
This playback function allows remote playback control. This means that Honor Band 5 users can use the fitness tracker to instantly view and control their favorite music apps right from their wrist. Apps supported include Google Play Music, Spotify, YouTube, Shazam, Huawei music and many more.
Software version 1.1.0.120 enhances this even further. If you don’t realize any of these benefits immediately or if you run into issues after the update on your Honor Band 5, it is recommended that you reset the band via Menu -> More -> Settings -> Reset for fix.
