No one likes restrictions, especially if going beyond brings you benefits! That’s the concept behind rooting Android. In short, it is a process to gain access to elated privileges on the OS so that you can avail features which are otherwise unavailable.
Despite having the best level of customisation on Android, people go for rooting just because they don’t want anything to hinder their needs. Just imagine how iPhone users will feel as the Cupertino-based manufacturer ships their devices with a number of restraints!
Akin to rooting on Android, iOS can be jailbroken to remove all the restrictions. When you jailbreak your iPhone, you can install applications, unavailable on the official store. Moreover, tons of tweaks are available for you to tinker with.
Speaking of jailbreak tweaks, we have already reported about Deep Fusion, Night mode, brightness-sensitive Dark Mode and iPhone X gestures (a few are upcoming). Let’s put these aside for the time being and jump into the process of jailbreaking.
It’s not as easy as you may anticipate. Provided that Apple fix the vulnerabilities in the platform with every update, we can’t follow a single tool or procedure to jailbreak all the versions. So, you need to be careful enough to opt for the steps.
Do you not want to go through all the fuss? What if I tell you there’s a battery case, using which you can jailbreak your iPhone? Seems too good to be true?? We have got to know a project named bootm8 and that is going to make this a reality.
We’ve been working hard for the last few months to design a custom slim battery case and dongle with integrated SecureROM code injector–to run exploits in an educational capacity–as well as a minimal dongle version! This is essentially quite similar to what people have been suggesting with RPi dongles, but much more streamlined and user-friendly.
Development is going along well! You can check out our landing page at bootm8.io, where you’ll be able to find links to our now-public community platforms (website functionality limited on Low Power Mode)!

So yeah, we may even see a dongle to help you with overcome struggles of jailbreaking. Of course, in order to get your hands on a unit, you will have to pay ($45 for case and $20 for dongle, as per the developers). Previously, the project was called JBcase.
You can run checkra1n to make use of checkm8 exploit without having to use a computer. Here’s the official website and Twitter handle. Don’t forget to stay tuned to this post to know when the products officially go live.
