Pokemon Go is an augmented reality game that requires players to go out and do certain in-game tasks. Pokemon Go was released back in 2016, and it was the epicenter of controversy during its initial months.
According to the Newscientist article, the Pokemon Go game has resulted in 150,000 traffic accidents and 256 deaths in its first 148 days after the US release.
But this time, it is not a traffic accident, but an act of crime. A 21-year-old woman has been shot and killed in Albuquerque after she witnessed a robbery while playing Pokemon Go near Bianchetti Park. Police have confirmed that Cayla Campos was the victim who had been shot dead by the robbers.
She was with her boyfriend and playing Pokemon Go at 11.50 pm on October 18.
Cayla and her boyfriend were sitting in their car when they witnessed two strangers attempting to rob the driver of another car. The couple attempted to leave the place, but the robbers fired multiple shots at them.
Gunfire hit Campos in the back of the head, and the vehicle lost control and crashed into a nearby house.
Campos was rushed to UNM Hospital, but she succumbed to her injuries. Well, this incident is a wake up call, as one should not play any such game in unsafe places and odd times. In conversation with Koat, a Pokemon Go player Kody Love said that “Take into account your own safety and when you go out and play.”
“It definitely makes me think twice about where and when I’m playing. There’s a lot of rough neighborhoods and times you probably shouldn’t be out. I mean, you just need to be aware of your surroundings and be safe,” he further added
For a quick refresher, the Pokemon Go Halloween event is currently live in the game. The event started on October 17, 2019, and will stay live until November 1, 2019. Under this event, many Ghost-type and Dark-type Pokemon will appear in raids, eggs, and in the wild.
Pokemon Go also features some new Shadow Pokemon at Pokestops. Players are required to save the shadow Pokemon from Team Go Rocket grunts and purify them. The process of Purification requires a certain amount of candy and stardust.
The following list of Pokemon is needed to save from Team Go Rocket Grunts: Beedrill, Electabuzz, Magmar, Lapras, Mareep, Seedot, Nuzleaf, Sableye, Trapinch, Cacnea, Shuppet, Duskull, Weedle, and Kakuna.
