Chinese smartphone maker, Xioami looks busy in brewing Android Q based MIUI 11 for its high-end smartphones. Recently, the OEM rolled out Android Q based beta updates to Mi 9 (Chinese version) and the newly launched Redmi K20 Pro.
Although, Xiaomi is aiming to launch the stable version of MIUI 11 for its flagship devices at the earliest, the budget smartphone range doesn’t appear to lag behind at all. Reason being, Xiaomi is continuously rolling out security updates to its mid-range smartphones too.
As of today, the OEM has rolled out the August security update to two of its mid-range devices in India, that is, Redmi 7 and Redmi Y3. For refresher, last month, Xiaomi pushed the MIUI update for Redmi 7 & Redmi Y3, which carried several bugs fixes & brought along the June security patch.
If you own one of these devices, and didn’t receive the July Android security patch update on your device, well, let us inform you, you are not the only one. The OEM skipped the July security updates for both the devices, and the reason for this is not known.
Cut to now. Redmi Y3, Xiaomi’s selfie-centric phone series carrying a giant 32MP selfie camera, is receiving 342MB of MIUI update file. The new update bumps the version from V10.3.3.0.PFFINXM to V10.3.6.0.PFFINXM.
Other than bringing in the latest security patch, it fixes the hands-free call duration issue in Game Turbo and adds the ability to lock Google contacts. Here’s what the complete update changelog reads:
[System]
Updated Android Security Patch to August 2019. Increased system security.
[App lock]
New: Locking Google contacts is available now
[Game speed booster]
Fix: Hands-free call duration wasn’t displayed correctly in Game Turbo
Same goes with the Redmi 7 – Xiaomi’s midrange smartphone carrying Qualcomm Snapdragon 632, 4000mAh Li-ion battery and Android Pie – which is now receiving a new MIUI update file of 449MB.
The patch bumps the version from MIUI V10.3.3.0.PFLINXM to V10.3.6.0.PFLINXM. Apart from the latest August security patch, the update fixes the hands-free call duration issue in Game Turbo and once again brings the ability to lock Google contacts.
