Anthem Freeplay mode frequent crashes on PS4 (error CE-34878-0 workaround), Xbox One and PC reported

Anthem, an online multiplayer action role-playing game, was launched on 22 February 2019, by Electronic Arts. BioWare Studios developed the game under the direction of Jon Warner.

In the game, players take on the role of Freelancers, and they have to wear exosuits called Javelin to defend humanity on some anonymous planet. Since the launch, many bugs have plagued the game, and the EA has provided corresponding fixes for them from time to time.

But today, Anthem players are facing a serious issue with Freeplay mode of the game. Many players have taken it to Reddit to express their concern. Have a look at some complainants below.

The game is constantly crashing for players and that too in a small duration of time. A Reddit user ‘TheCrownedLord’ shared proof of multiple frequent game crashes. Have a look at the image below.

Many players are getting an error CE-34878-0 on PS4, which is leading to the crashing of the game. Speaking of CE-34878-0, it is a general error indicating that the game you are currently playing has crashed. If you receive a CE-34878-0 error, you will need to restart the game.

Here’s a possible workaround for PS4 users if you are getting an error CE-34878-0 on your PS4 while playing Anthem.

• Close the application, install the latest System Software and game updates and restart the system.

• If you have upgraded the Hard Disk Drive (“HDD”) in your system, please re-install the original HDD.

• If the error occurs again, back up your saved data, and then go to [Settings] > [Initialization] and choose [Initialize PS4].

• If the error occurs with every application, or as soon as the application starts, please contact PlayStation Support.

Many players are also experiencing Rubber banding, which means the player’s random or sporadic jerky movement during a multiplayer game. Have a look at some players complaining about the Rubber banding issue.

There is no official word from the EA or Anthem officials on this issue yet. Many players are expecting these crashes to get fixed with the upcoming Cataclysm event update.

For a quick refresher, The game utilises the power of Frostbite 3 engine to provide astonishing graphics and gameplay. The game offers a third-person perspective to players, and it has been set up in the open world which can be shared with three other players.

Each player has to take the role of a freelancer who will wear customizable exosuits to unravel the Anthem world.

1) Javelin of Dawn– The First Javelin
2) Colossus – Giant Javelin for more strength-oriented tasks
3) Ranger – Suitable to variable tasks
4) Storm – Long ranged Spell Caster Javelin
5) Interceptor – Speed Focused Javelin
