Niantic has made some changes on July 9 regarding the switching mechanics of Pokemon during Trainer battles. But today, the changes that were made earlier have been rolled back.

According to July 9 changes, a brief pause was added between the switching of Pokemon during trainer battles. This change was made to avoid Pokémon, causing damage to each other while they are withdrawn into their Poké Balls.

It was also done to grant players some more time to choose Pokemon during Trainer battles, but it seems like Community did not like this change, and listening to the requests of the trainers the new switching mechanics changes have been rolled back.

Niantic has shared this information on July 11, and their official statement reads the following:

In an effort to improve your competitive experience, the new switching Pokémon mechanic has been removed from Trainer Battles. We strive to make Trainer Battles intuitive and strategic, and we do not feel this change has met that bar

Trainers and players have responded to this change on Reddit. Some players are really happy that the new switching mechanics have been rolled back while some users think that the slower switching is more helpful and relaxing as it allows to focus on making better decisions while battling.

While some players think fast switching mechanics are better, as it makes the game more competitive and switching feels easier if one keeps practicing.

Take a look at the discussion on Reddit regarding this change.

We still plan on fixing what we consider polish issues of Pokémon being able to attack and be attacked during switching animations
