Daily Apple News: Tim Cook now 'Tim Apple' on Twitter, full-screen 2019 iPad touch, iPhone XS and XS Max stutter animation, and more

We’re back again with a scoop of Apple daily news. The Apple universe has been undergoing some radical developments and we’re here to underline those for you. Unwind and read some of the most intriguing tales from the world of Apple!

A new year and possibly a new ear for Apple’s iPod touch. A leakster named Jonathan Mitchell stumbled up something which might blow you away. While coding in iOS 12.2 Beta 4, the leakster discovered a new icon which doesn’t resemble Apple’s current generation iPod touch.

The two icons spotted include “HLSipod” which is shown on the left of the image and the “HLSipod2” which is positioned on the right. The “HLSipod2” icon could be what Apple’s 7th generation iPod touch could look like.

One of the most obvious differences when compared to the 6th generation iPod touch is the absence of the home button and a modern all-screen iPhone look.

A closer look reveals that the device doesn’t appear to have a notch and it also seems to be off-centre. This indicates that it may not be genuine at all. While a 2019 iPod touch has been rumored before, there have been no leaks regarding its design.

This means that no one actually knows what the 7th generation iPad touch will look like. Unfortunately, the only way to find out is to wait for its official release.

Meanwhile, what is genuine is the response made by the CEO of Apple, Tim Cook, when being addressed as Tim Apple.

The incident took place at a meeting of the Workforce Policy Advisory Board where the President of the U.S, Donald Trump, referred to him as Tim Apple. Of course, the CEO isn’t petty and took it with a straight face and later changed his Twitter name to Tim Apple.

It seems like Tim Cook has a good sense of humor. Needless to say, Twitter was full of numerous jokes regarding the incident. In fact, a Twitter user even tweeted the video in which Donald Trump calls him Tim Apple.

So, what was Apple’s CEO doing at the meeting of the Workforce Policy Advisory Board? Well, if you didn’t already know, here’s why: Tim Cook is a member of the meeting of the Workforce Policy Advisory Board, which serves to develop and revamp the workforce of the United States.

Moving on, what can your iPhone do? Apparently, it can display animation stutter. Both the iPhone XS and XS Max have been suffering from slight animation stutters ever since their launch.

Unfortunately, iOS 12.2 Beta 4 seems to have the same problem and hasn’t resolved the issue.

Users have reported the problem on Apple’s forum and have even created a special Facebook page dedicated to it. While some users facing the issue have received replacement units from Apple, others haven’t.

Supposedly, the problem reoccurs when the device has been idle for at least ten seconds. Have a look at the video above submitted to 9to5Mac by an iPhone XS Max user. All hope isn’t lost for both devices as the problem appears to be present on a software level rather than a hardware defect.

In other news, Apple’s entry into the Augmented Reality (AR) zone will be marked by Apple’s upcoming AR headset or glasses. Rumour has it that its AR product will go into mass production as early as the fourth quarter of this year.

This news surfaces from a report by Ming-Chi Kuo. This might be true as it does line up with a previous rumour with the exact same time period as reported by Bloomberg in 2017.

Elsewhere, Apple appears to be on its last legs in the legal battle with Qualcomm. The company’s only tool, a former software engineer, has been lost. Supposedly, he doesn’t have any plans on testifying to Apple’s claims of him being the inventor of one of the patents which Qualcomm accuses Apple of infringing.

The news surfaced from CNET, which has been covering the legal proceedings between the two titans.

Apple’s only trump card as of this moment is to make Qualcomm appear guilty of witness tampering. Naturally, Qualcomm has denied the claim and considered it as a personal onslaught. Do you truly feel that Qualcomm would go to such lengths?

Speaking of bad luck, Apple could have more trouble coming its way. Supposedly, 4K iTunes has been hacked as a pirated 4K copy of Aquaman has made its way on to a website called TorrentFreak.

The name of the torrent as well as the WEB-DL format all suggests that this pirated copy of the movie came straight from iTunes. The image below is a screengrab from the movie and was sourced from TorrentFreak.

At first, it seemed like the pirated copy came courtesy of a hack for Amazon Prime or Netflix. However, the movie is yet to be released on both streaming websites.

This automatically narrows it done to Apple’s iTunes.

This suggests that Apple iTunes has been cracked as a result of a loophole or vulnerability in the software. However, this will not last for long as Apple is bound to fix it and is probably working on a fix as we speak.

Last but not least, Apple is using International Women’s Day to send a strong social message. The company has compiled a video featuring celebrities holding different placards. Each placard speaks about the different avenues in which women have been oppressed and continue to be.

The video is just over a minute and a half long but speaks volumes. The atrocities and inequalities faced by woman need to be addressed and it appears that Apple is doing just that.
