Fitbit Charge 3 users seemingly aren’t happy with the device. Earlier this month, we highlighted how users are feeling ditched after knowing that the company has removed the screen time out feature despite marketing it during launch. Plus, a lot of users are also complaining about limited number of clock or watch faces.
You can read more about these problems here.
Now, we have stumbled upon another problem that’s reportedly plaguing the device. Users are taking to platforms like Twitter to report that their Charge 3 screen stops working sometimes. Basically, complainants say the display suddenly freezes, or goes black/blank, although the device remains active – vibrating for notifications and things like that.

As part of our research into this issue, we also jumped into the online Fitbit community and found there’s a dedicated discussion thread on this matter containing hundreds of comments from Charge 3 users and thousands of views.
Thankfully, a Fitbit forum moderator has provided a workaround that has worked for many users.
If you are seeing a blank screen but Charge 3 is vibrating, or the screen only turns on when on the charger, please restart your Charge 3
If that doesn’t work, change the clock face in the Fitbit app. If this fixes the issue, you can change the clock face back to the original clock face
If you are still experiencing issues, please let us know
It’s worth mentioning here that there have been mixed reports from users who tried these workarounds. While some said one of these workarounds did the trick for them, for others, nothing changed.
My fitbit is responding to the button being pressed but nothing is coming up on the screen. I have tried to restart but I can’t see anything to know if it’s restarted or anything
I tried to restart my tracker. I have no screen
Same here! Only had my Fitbit 3 weeks. Held down the button for 8 seconds but no luck! Any advice?
Sadly, there’s currently no word from the company on whether or not a permanent fix is being planned for this problem. Meanwhile, for those facing the error 001 issue, here’s what the company recommends:
If you see the Fitbit logo and error 001 on your tracker, please see this link and restart your tracker. This should resolve the issue. If you are still stuck, please let us know
If you are affected by the issues we’ve highlighted in this story, rest assured, we are keeping a close watch, and will update the story as and when we have more newsworthy information on the matter.
