Instagram was in headlines recently after it came to light that a photo of a normal egg became the most liked post on the social network. The photo, which now has over 44 million likes, overtook the image of Kylie Jenner’s birth announcement (which is at under 19 million likes at the moment).
Just in case you haven’t seen it already, here’s the new Instagram king, the egg:

Here’s the Kylie Jenner’s birth announcement Instagram post:

In fact, Kylie also responded to the whole episode with a video:

Recently, it also came to light how an egg on Twitter is having a similar plan – to be the most retweeted tweet on the platform. You can read about that in detail by heading here.
Now what we have for you is a couple of fun clips where people in a Los Angeles night club can be seen partying with Instagram egg placards in hand.

Some of the comments on these tweets are really funny. Take a look:

Copycat accounts and spammers
Meanwhile over at Instagram, as is usually the case when something like this happens, some popular accounts – or Influencers as they say – have started scamming people by replacing their profile pics with the egg photo. Following are a few examples:

Of course, a lot of people are trying to milk the egg’s popularity on Instagram.
Before everyone jumps on this guy, hundreds of people are doing this. Anytime there’s a viral trend you’re going to get the masses of growth hackers changing their name/bio/avi etc, trying to get a piece of the engagement (none of these ppl had nothing to do with the egg) pic.twitter.com/kErWaWUNB5

In fact, copycat accounts have also started popping up.
The amount of egg-like copycat accounts is staggering. I’ve seen stuff like this EVERYWHERE since yesterday morning. pic.twitter.com/yVPD9W3SYp

It’d be interesting to see how long this ‘egg’ bubble lasts before it bursts. Meanwhile, do let us know you thoughts on this. Share your opinion in the comments section below.
