Vox journo who criticized PewDiePie receiving death and rape threats

The Seattle Times reporter who highlighted the video where-in a teacher criticizes PewDiePie has revealed their newsroom received threat messages from PewDiePie fans after the story was published. Details here.

Just yesterday, we brought you news about PewDiePie’s second response to the ‘anti-Semitic channel shout out‘ controversy that kicked off last week. The reason the Swedish YouTuber responded for the second time was the recent coverage of the matter by Vox media.

As you can see in the video below, PewDiePie lambasted Vox and other media outlets saying they blew the matter out of proportion, especially considering he had already removed references to the controversial YouTube channel from their shout out video.

Coming back to Vox, the coverage – titled “PewDiePie’s ties to white supremacy spell serious trouble for the future of YouTube” – was done by a journalist called Aja Romano.

Like other articles from different reputed publications, Romano also pointed towards Nazi references/Jokes in videos on one of the channels that PewDiePie gave shout out to, while noting how this could have grave consequences given the 76 million strong follower-ship PewDiePie enjoys on YouTube.

Now, a PewDiePie fan managed to dig up evidences that indicate the journalist herself has used both the N word and Nazi jokes publicly in past on a platform like Twitter. Here’s an example

Unsurprisingly, the noise this reveal generated made sure journalist Aja Romano gives a reaction. Here’s what they said, at least about their Nazi tweet in question:

So while that’s a fair debate going on, Romano also revealed she has been receiving rape and death threats on Twitter for her ‘PewDiePie anti-Semitic shout out’ coverage, seemingly from fans of the Swedish YouTuber.

I do want to state for the record that I did get lots and lots and lots of perfectly civil and polite messages from many many fans, and if i didn’t respond to all of those it’s because i just don’t have time/stamina to have conversations with all 500 of you etc
