Original story:

Both ShowBox and MovieBox services are currently down. Although developers of these apps haven’t said anything officially, it’s highly likely that these apps have been shut down. Given the popularity of these apps, users are now looking for alternatives or apps similar to ShowBox and MovieBox.

Two things here: first, using these kind of apps may land you in serious legal trouble (here’s why), and second, if you understand the risks involved, and still want to go ahead, we have prepared a list of user-suggested replacement apps (details here).

For those looking for alternatives, there’s another thing to keep in mind: safety. Yes, it’s strongly suggested you make sure before hand that the apk you are trying to install is safe (no malware, Trojans, etc).

But the question is how easy it is to do this, especially if we make a reasonable assumption that most of those who use ShowBox or MovieBox are not tech savvy. Well, turns out it’s not as difficult has you’d think. There are a couple of websites – Hybrid Analysis and Virus Total – that you can use to quickly check any apk for viruses or malware.

All you are required to do is, just drag and drop the apk file into the boxes on these websites and they will offer you information based on which you can decide whether or not to install the apk in question.

YouTube channel TechDoctorUK has a useful video explaining the process in detail.
