Have you noticed the behavior of 3rd party apps while the Do Not Disturb feature is enabled on your Android Pie powered smartphone? Do you think calls from apps like WhatsApp override DND?

Well, if yes, then you aren’t alone, as this is a known bug in the DND feature at the moment.

A user took to Google’s official forum to voice their concern about WhatsApp calls overriding their DND feature. After a few troubleshooting steps, it was found that disabling ‘starred contacts’ exception in their DND settings did the trick.

While that’s good, how are these things related, the complainant asked. Replying to their query, a Google forum Top Contributor cleared the air saying it’s a known issue.

Yeah that’s a known issue with DND right now, allowing repeat callers and starred contacts is also allowing all calls from 3rd party apps

So there you go, if all your WhatsApp or Duo calls are ringing despite enabling the DND feature, just check if exceptions like repeat callers and starred contacts are turned on. If yes, you need to turn these off to solve the problem.

On a related note, another Google forum Top Contributor confirmed with Google that Do Not Disturb (DND) not disabling touch vibrations isn’t being treated as a bug by the company, and granular control for Android Auto DND isn’t available at the moment.

DND not turning off Touch Vibrations is not being treated as a bug, as of now. You can send feedback via Settings, if you strongly feel that the behavior should be different. Also, granular control for Android Auto DND don’t seem to be available at the moment.

So if any of these is bothering you, the only thing you can do at the moment is to leave a feedback, which Pixel users can do from within their device.
