Not able to play Google Home Ambient Sounds longer than one hour? Well, you aren’t alone. A lot of users are facing this problem with their Home series of devices, and that too for months now.
What’s good is Google has finally offered an official word on the matter, confirming that it’s indeed a problem, and they are currently investigating it.
Following is the exact statement a Google employee shared on a forum thread discussing this issue.
Thanks for all the feedback on this thread and I apologize for any inconvenience this issue has been causing. At the moment, we ask that users continue to file feedback as ‘GHT3 Ambient Sound Duration’. I understand a few of you have already done this, and that is appreciated. We are still investigating this issue and I will update as soon as more information becomes available.
The Google Home Ambient Sounds feature is only available in a handful of markets, including the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, Italy, and Japan. And if you take a look at Google’s own support page for this feature, you’ll see it says “Ambient sounds will continue to play for 12 hours if not turned off.”
As already mentioned, it’s not a new problem. Google Home users have been reporting (1,2) this issue for close to a year now.
