A new OnePlus 6 problem has come to light. The issue is related to Bluetooth, and has been reported by users for at least a couple of months now. Basically, users say when their OnePlus 6 is connected to a Bluetooth device (like a headphone or a speaker), the connection suddenly behaves erratic, and the audio output switches from the Bluetooth device to the phone.
Here’s how a complainant explained the problem on OnePlus forum:
Hi one plus when i connect my airpods to my 1+6 it’s connected but some times audio output was suddenly changed to phone speakers ! ……. plz slove this issue
We went through all the follow up comments to this complaint, and found that the problem rears its ugly head when user switches apps or when a notification arrives while audio is being streamed over Bluetooth. Read the following comments:
Even I am facing the same issue in Oneplus6. it’s happening only when we receive any notification when the phone is locked
Facing similar issue with Bluetooth earphones .everytime I get a notification or while I’m switching between apps, phone automatically starts playing in speaker. I have to manually select the Bluetooth option everytime
same problem. close all apps . reconnect BT. now switch or get notifications with the output being switched
it’s connects fine but the moment I receive call in between it automatically switch from Bluetooth to phone speaker. no matter you put your device on flight mode , forget network , it won’t work in order to make it work need to restart and it’s not possible to restart Everytime so it’s giving me pain. kindly fix this
Music playing for any application starts to play from phone speaker suddenly after any notification, while devices synced , connected and playing music from Bluetooth device.
if you are listening to music from Bluetooth headset and there is a message notification, the music will resume in phone speaker thereafter, while it should continue playing in Bluetooth headset itself
If you take a look at the forum thread, you’ll find that latest complaints are from last week. This means that even the new OxygenOS 5.1.11 update didn’t fix the problem.
Finally, a member of the company’s Bug Hunter team replied on the thread a couple of days ago, saying they are “very concerned” about this problem. They asked complainants to provide some details.
Hi all, This is Prinas from OnePlus Bug Hunters. Sorry for the inconvenience caused. We are very concerned about the issue you mentioned in the thread. In order to resolve the issue reported ASAP, we would like to get some information
You can access the complete post here.
It’s good that OnePlus has finally taken notice of the problem. We hope the issue will get resolved in the upcoming OnePlus 6 update.
Bluetooth ‘Phone calls’ issue on OnePlus 5/5T
In addition to OnePlus 6 users, Bluetooth is also bothering those owning a OnePlus 5 or OnePlus 5T. Complainants say after the latest OxygenOS 5.1.5 update (which arrived last week), they can’t enable the ‘Phone calls’ option in the Bluetooth device ‘Use for’ menu.
Bluetooth connects to car but won’t allow enabling for phone calls
I can’t take calls via Bluetooth headphones.I could only take calls via earpiece and speaker
Has anyone found the solution to this problem yet? It only began happening after my Oxygen update to 5.1.5 a day or so ago. I keep trying to check the box next to “phone” and it won’t allow it. I can’t make calls on BT from my car or any headsets. It only allows for “media”. Need a fix please!
I am also facing same prob. I have Bose soundsport and it’s not allowing on calls same goes with my car streo. need a fix. suggest me if anyone has something for this
If you try searching the official OnePlus forums, you’ll see a very large number of OnePlus 5/5T users are reporting this issue. Thankfully, there are a couple of workarounds that many have confirmed worked for them. These include restarting the phone and clearing cache.
I got it fixed after restarting my phone
mine is sorted now after clearing the cache…thanks a ton everyone…
I had a similar issue. I went to Apps -> Show all system apps -> Bluetooth and did a force stop and cleared the cache but not data. Before doing this only music was playing fine on my new Bluetooth earphone. Calls on my car were directly out of my phone speaker. I was also not able to select the Phone Calls check box in the Bluetooth settings. After doing this step above, i got it working.
We’re not sure if these are the permanent solutions to this problem, but what’s good is that you can get the ‘Phone calls’ option working by following these steps. We couldn’t find a word on this matter either from any of the forum moderators of staff members who are active on the OnePlus forum.
Rest assured, we’ll surely update this story as and when we have something more to report. Meanwhile, if you want to share your experience with Bluetooth, you’re welcome to do that in the comments section below.
