It won’t be wrong to say that Apple is usually not transparent when it comes to acknowledging problems plaguing their devices and sharing what they are doing to address them.

But that doesn’t seem to be the case with the iOS 11.4.1 update-triggered WiFi issue, which we were the first publication to highlight.

Apple Support confirmed to us that they have received multiple reports regarding the problem (which causes frequent loss of Internet connectivity when connected to WiFi).

The support rep further said they will be fixing the same in an incremental update.

This issue has been report (reported) and will be fixed in an incremental update.

Chat details

Given the proliferation of similar complaints across Apple Community – and even my own unit facing the issue – we thought of approaching Apple Support for their word on the matter and see if they are even aware of the problem.

Following are some screenshots from our chat session with Apple Support:

After chatting with multiple Apple advisors for a couple of hours (head spinning experience though), we finally got the confirmation that many of those troubled are looking for.

Yes, Apple is working to resolve the WiFi issue.

Someone from the Technical Support Seniors Department (if I remember correctly) finally acknowledged the problem an told us that

Apple has received reports of your (WiFi) issue and is working to resolve.

And as already mentioned in the beginning, they also affirmed the problem will be fixed “in an incremental update”.

Furthermore, when asked about ETA, they weren’t sure, but guesstimated a time frame of about a month.

If that’s correct, then we may see iOS 11.4.2 rolling out, as it’s still over a month before iOS 12 gets publicly released.

But again, nothing is set in stone at the moment.

It’s also worth mentioning that some other users who approached Apple Support have also got similar confirmations to share.

Take a look at what some of the users said on Apple Community:

Had a call from Apple Support! They re aware of the problem (reading this forum) and trying to collect more info. They asked me a lot of questions and finally wanted me to install a profile (legit) and monitor the wifi connection. I have a case number so i will check it with apple first but i can confirm its official.. hope this help to solve the issue..

Apple is aware of this discussion topic and they are investigating it. They called me yesterday (and some other people) to run some analytic while reproducing the issue. so patience.

Just been informed that Apple have now all the data needed and identified the problem.

Needless to say, we are keeping an active tab on all related developments and will update as and when the fix gets live. So stay in touch.
