Here’s welcoming a new feature. On your OnePlus 6 device running the latest OxygenOS 5.1.9, you’ll now be able to see a new battery optimization functionality dubbed Sleep standby optimization. The feature is disabled by default, but you can easily enable it by heading to:
Settings > Battery > battery optimization > click the three dots > Advanced optimization
How the feature works?
Sleep standby optimization is a smart feature that learns about user’s sleep pattern based on how frequently the device is being used. Once potential sleep patterns are identified, the feature turns off the device’s network during such times to save battery.
It goes without saying, when the feature in question gets into action, you won’t be able to receive any app notifications due to unavailability of network.
Don’t worry, you don’t need to manually re-enable the network. Rather, the feature itself disables the restriction before you are up. Clever, isn’t it?
One of the company employees took to the official help forum to break the news about the feature’s arrival. They updated the official OxygenOS 5.1.9 OTA thread just yesterday, saying
We have introduced Sleep Standby optimization in this version of Oxygen OS, which should help you get more juice out of your battery.
Call volume adjustment issue fixed
Moving on, the company has also fixed an annoying issue in the latest update. The problem, highlighted by a OnePlus 6 user, was their inability to adjust (increase/decrease) in-call volume with the external volume button once the device’s screen went black (slept) during calls.
Here’s how the actual complainant explained the glitch:
While having a call I cannot adjust the volume by pressing the volume buttons. Pressing either of them (either short or long) does not change the volume.
If, however, I take the phone away from my ear so that the screen turns back on, the volume buttons can be used normally, after putting the phone back on my ear.
After continuing the call for another minute or so, the issue comes up again, and I’m again unable to control the volume with the buttons.
According to a member of the OnePlus Bug Hunter team, the same user has now confirmed that the latest update seems to have resolved the problem in question.
Update from the user: The latest OTA update (5.1.9) seems to have fixed the issue.
The speed at which OnePlus is bringing in new features to improve user experience and convenience is another plus point apart from the transparency they maintain while addressing and entertaining user suggestions and complaints.
Hope the company continues to act in similar manner, delivering what their users wish and ask for.
