Of late, many Android users who made in-app purchases on Google Play Store encountered order cancellations due to an issue at Google’s end. In no time, the company has not only acknowledged the problem, but also reassured users that they won’t lose their money.
Google will contact you
A couple of Google employees informed those affected that the matter is being looked into. They also added that users don’t need to do anything, as they’ll be contacted by Google through an email for refund of the purchase in question.
The same is being notified on the refund section of Google Play’s official help page.
We recently experienced intermittent issues with purchases on the Play Store. If you were impacted, you don’t need to take any action. We will email you in the next few days about getting a refund for purchases you didn’t receive.
So, those of you impacted by the glitch at Play Store, don’t worry, Google’s at your rescue.
Buggy Play Services update troubles users
As if the Play Services update triggered mess on Huawei/Honor devices wasn’t enough, another buggy Play Services update (v12.8.72) has landed, preventing apps from loading any content.
Thankfully, users running recent Android versions are safe, as – going by user reports – this time mostly those Android devices that are running Lollipop are affected.
Complaints have been pouring on the company’s official help forum (1,2,3,4,5) as well as Twitter with users saying ‘nothing loads’.
A quick rush through the following comments will give you more clarity:
After update 12.8.72 of Google Play services, all Google apps stopped working on my Lenovo P1m (Android 5.0, less than 2 years old) and the phone itself is crippled, nothing works properly.
My phone was working pretty fine before but when I updated google play services my phone started to lag, play store will only show a blank screen, and I can’t use the sign in with google option in the other apps that I’ve installed.
Earlier at around 12:00 pm all of my Google Apps (Google app, Google Play, Google Play Services YouTube, Google Drive) except for Chrome somehow won’t load any content. Before 12:00 pm all of the mentioned apps works fine as usual, after that it somehow won’t load content properly.
At first it could be my Data Connection, but I have around 500 MB left of my prepaid plan. I tried to clear data on my Google Play Services, but it wont load. Then I decided to reset my device, after the reset all of the mentioned apps work. I started to update the Google Apps that came with my device, still works. I decided to update Google Play Services, after the update all of the problems came again, all of my Google Apps won’t load content again.
I have reset my phone but google play services take update and the updated version 12.8.72 is not working properly. It stop the google play store and apps. If I use old version then show message “google play store and apps won’t run unless you update google play services”
What’s appeasing is that Google is looking into the matter, as confirmed by a Google employee on the company’s official help forum
We’re actively looking into this
And Google Play on Twitter as well.
It’s good to see how actively Google is addressing the complainants, but there’s no information as to how long will they take to fix the Play Services glitch on Lollipop devices. As for Play Store-related purchase cancellations, we hope those affected get refunded soon.
