OnePlus confirms annoying bug in OnePlus 6 Notes app

The notes app on your phone is arguably one of your most used productivity apps, and that’s precisely the reason that even a small bug in the app can make things really annoying.

Case in point: the built-in OnePlus 6 Notes app deletes text randomly, instead of the way it should normally do. We were able to cross confirm this issue on our own OnePlus 6.

As a proof, following is a video starring our OnePlus 6 unit. You’ll see that in the beginning, the cursor is at the end of the text (numbers in this case). But as we press the backspace button on the software keyboard to delete everything, the cursor jumps randomly sometime into the process, resulting only a part of text being deleted.

The problem (1,2,3,4,5) is not limited to continuous delete – even if you want to delete a particular word or a character, it’s highly likely that you’ll end up deleting some random stuff.

What makes this whole problem super annoying is the fact that there’s no pattern to this behavior. In our testing, we found that sometimes everything worked fine, while most of the times random deletes happened, with behavior varying most of the times.

This may not be a critical bug, like some of those already plaguing the flagship smartphone, but it is definitely annoying enough to be dealt on priority.

For the record, our unit is on OxygenOS 5.1.8, meaning it is running the latest software that has been rolled out by the Chinese company.

What’s good is OnePlus is aware of the issue, and has confirmed that a fix for the same will be included in the next update. Here’s what a member of the company’s Bug Hunter team said recently.

About this issue, it will be fixed in next update

In case you aren’t aware, the upcoming OxygenOS 5.1.10 update is likely to arrive any day now as its counterpart HydrogenOS 5.1.10 update has already been pushed out in China.
