New OnePlus Gallery update brings useful video editing features

OnePlus has pushed out a new update to their stock gallery app, bumping its version to 2.6.69.

With the update, users can now enjoy enhanced video editing features like adding music to a video, trimming its length, applying filters etc. Along with that, the video editing functionality has also been added for slow-mo videos.

As for the change log, here’s what it states:

The update isn’t device specific, as users with OnePlus 6, 5T, and even OnePlus 3 units have got it. That said, we have certain observations to share about the new update, for there’s some confusion about it.

Lack of clarity

To begin with, the ‘Updated on’ section of the change log (as can be seen in the above picture) reads July 01. On the contrary, the app’s Play Store listing page (if you try accessing from countries like India and the US) doesn’t reflect the arrival of the same update. Rather it currently shows updated on July 04, version 1.2.1.

However, if you access the same page from Germany (through any web proxy), you see the WHAT’S NEW section listing the changes included in the version 2.6.69, but with version 1.2.1.

Secondly, on our OnePlus 6 device in India – which is running an older version of OnePlus Gallery app (v1.2.1, but dated March 18) – we already have almost all the features that this new update (v2.6.69) offers.

So, is the update even meant to be rolled out globally? Well, we aren’t sure.

However, if you go by user reports (1,2), the update in question seems to be available only for OnePlus users in Germany, which raises the question: is it region specific?

To sum it up, though there is a new OnePlus Gallery app update for sure, there’s a lot of confusion as to whether it’s under slow roll out, or only intended for certain users (of course, the latter seems least likely, but you never know).

In case it’s meant for all OnePlus users, then seemingly, there isn’t much new that it brings along (we told you earlier our Gallery app already has these features).
