We at PiunikaWeb were the first to report that the debut OnePlus 6 update took away the Always-On Display feature over battery concerns. And now, here we are again to break the news that the next major Android OS update for OnePlus 6 may bring the functionality back.

The news comes straight from the horse’s mouth. Yes, a OnePlus employee said they can add the feature in Android P beta, meaning you may be able to use the functionality when the stable Android P update goes live for the flagship device.

For always on display feature, maybe we can add it into Android P beta version. Please keep patient.

It’s worth stressing that the statement doesn’t say the feature will definitely be back in Android P. However, it does confirm that you’ll have to miss the functionality until at least Android P. So no chance you’re getting it back in the next update, which is otherwise officially confirmed to carry some major changes/bug fixes.
