Update (May 16):
Instagram’s CEO Kevin Systrom officially confirmed the ‘Usage Insights’ feature in a recent tweet.
Original story:
Hey #igers (commonly used # for Instagrammers), get ready to see how addicted you are to Instagram, as the team behind the app is reportedly testing a new feature which will show the amount of time you spend/invest on the popular social networking service.
So those of you who feel they aren’t an addict yet, get ready for a reality check with the actual usage figures that you’ll be able to access through a new ‘Usage Insights’ option on Insta in a new sidebar (both of which can be seen in the following screenshot).
Credits to developer Jane Manchun Wong for digging out yet another interesting feature (this time on Instagram) which is seemingly being tested by the app developers internally.
According to Jane, the entire sidebar itself is a new addition, where the major highlight is ‘Usage Insights’, as rest of the options already exist in the app. Here’s how they explained the feature in one of their recent tweets:
Instagram is testing “Usage Insights” to show the amount of time users have spent on the app. Be self-aware or be prepared to be ashamed for Instagram addiction
And further more added
Sidenote, they are testing this sidebar as shown in the screenshot
Hope to see both sidebar as well as the Usage Insights option on Insta soon.
